Coast Guard Day 2010

Coast Guard Day is August 4th, and this year Todd was on the commitee to organize everything.  We had good old North Carolina BBQ, which I must say is not my favorite, but we all liked the corn fritters (I wonder why?)  The kids had fun playing on all of the activities they had set up, but I just stood around melting, if only I would REALLY melt!  It was HOT!!  Those of you who know me well, know that this is not good for the old girl.  I braved it out until 2 and decide to save my Aspen and take her home.  Aspen and I were not up for the boat ride.  And I have been nursing a sore throat, I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with my allergies.  Have I ever mentioned that I HATE having allergies all year round.  It's time to move to the great north west, then I will only suffer during the spring time.

Madison loved the water slide, Joaquin absolutely did not!  Madison got in the dunk tank, Joaquin dunked her, he liked this and boy oh boy does he have an arm!  Joaquin loved jumping in the car jumper, Madison loved going down the water slide, did I mention that already?  JoLynne, Aspen and I watched and supervised all the kids who were trying to push the lever for the dunk tank, don't they realize that they are ruining the fun?  Anyway, they had fun and got their exercise.
They had popsicles and then waited for their boat ride.  Todd said that Joaquin would not let go of the rope secures, I have no idea what they are called.  One of the guys on the boat commented that Joaquin will make a great boatswains mate, NOT!!  No, if he wants to be a BM, guess what I call BM's in the Coast Guard? (Ha..Ha..Ha..), that's his choice.  They had a fun ride and it's a wonder Todd could pry his fingers off that boat.  I think that was his first ride, I think he stayed back with Aspen and I last year.  We all got too much sun, Todd and I look like raccoon's and poor Joaquin's ears are so red.  I feel bad that I forgot the sunscreen.  Happy Coast Guard Day 2010!!!
